The Plaza Hotel has been transformed through remodeling. The exterior, which generally appears somewhat heavy and rigid due to the lattice pattern windows in the existing white tile exterior wall, has been dressed up using a dynamic façade in gold waves and the lower floors of the hotel, which dully greets visitors within the colorless city center, has been transformed into a fresh environmentally-friendly space where green plants ride up the exterior wall. The new Plaza Hotel, which is the opposite of the previous hotel that obstructs the openness of the Seoul Plaza lawn, assimilates naturally with the Plaza as well as playing a positive role in expanding the Plaza’s domain from 2 dimensions to 3 dimensions.
