Aquaplanet Yeosu, which has the theme of ‘meeting sea lives through the coast made by the sea,’ was designed using the formation process of a rias coast as a motif. The process of sedimentation, uplift and erosion was expressed into architecture to make visitors feel as if the sea itself sculpted the structure. The entrance that embodies a sea cave, waterside stand that resembles a stratification that avoids the sea, mass that was made with a steep coastal cliff as a motif, cafeteria that presents an erosion basin on a coastal terrain and the patterns on the façade that express an imagery of sedimentary layers translate coastal features into architecture.
