"From Introverted Hotel To Extroverted Hotel" 

New Changes of the space structure to maximize the premium value of the hotel 

It has been 20 years since The-K Jeju Hotel was opened in 2003 after Gansam was selected as an architectural competition winner in 1994. In 2023, Gansam was selected at the remodeling competition by presenting the proposal with reinterpretation as an original architect. The-K Jeju Hotel had the limitation in the space structure where you cannot see the ocean until you go into the guest room, but Gansam took advantages of its location as an ocean front hotel which locates nearer to the ocean than any other five-star hotels in Jeju. We proposed to change the existing introverted space placed around the atrium to the extroverted new structure where people can enjoy the nature of Jeju and communicate with local communities, presenting it as a new signature space for the hotel. The ground floor is transformed into a true local cultural space in the hotel, which is naturally created by tourists and local people together, and the lobby lounge welcomes guests with an open view to the sea of Jeju, marking the beginning of magical journey.
