YISS RESIDENCE

This is an apartment house for international school teachers who left their home and live in a faraway land. The design began from a thought on how relationships between coworkers as well as neighbors should be connected to which type of social relationship. It contains units for a total of 25 households, single units for 15 households, double units for 10 households, and a total of eight subdivided units. Instead of simply being a residential space that puts stress on the real estate value based on the actual floor area, it interacts with the city with ample interspaces inside and outside and tune up the relationship between neighbors delicately. It intended to create an alley-like space that can trigger exchange and communication between residents by bumping into each other in the hallway leading to the yard and in the garden on each floor. The access traffic, which is a bit longer and slower, reflects the wish for a fruitful journey inside the housing.
