Junggu Office Facade, Seoul Metropolitan City

Jung-gu Office underwent remodeling to improve the old image of the building, which is over 30 years old, and enhance the efficiency of borough administration. Instead of using excessive budget to construct a new building, the borough decided to remodel the existing building with a unique design in that it is rated as a building that was transformed into a completely new and exclusive building while using a relatively small budget. While finishing the old exterior of the existing building with double skin using reinforced glass curtain wall, a pattern that represents the pine tree, the symbol of the borough, was printed on the skin to give a friendly image. In result, it transformed not only the building but also the streets around it into a surprisingly bright and cheerful image. The energy efficiency inside the building was also noticeably enhanced due to the characteristic of the double skin. With the front yard of the building, transformed from a parking lot into the green, it is regarded as a successful work in so much that the citizens coming to the building feel as though they are visiting a park inside the city.
